Cooking: Tip of the day

1. If you are cooking andhra style dal, and feel you have put more salt than usual, don't panic, just boil some water and add it to dal. This will solve the problem.

If you feel the dal wouldnt taste better, add ghee in seasoning. This will make the dal tasty.

2. When you make ginger garlic paste at home to store it, make sure you add salt/vinegar and refrigerate it immediately(I don't use vinegar and salt works very well for me).

3. For easy cooking on weekdays, keep grated dry coconut, ginger paste with salt, green chilly roughly grinded with salt, ginger garlic with salt paste, magic masala(paste of grated dry coconut, green chillies, garlic, salt, remember no water) in your fridge for quick use. This is because not all ingredients we use all the time. Better we separately prepare and store them and use whichever is appropriate for your recipe.

Dedicate 1hour in weekends to get this ready, this will make your life easier on weekdays in kitchen.

4. Remember, there is no logic or method for cooking. What you should understand is the taste. Sugar/jaggery for sweet, tamarind/lemon for sour, chillies for spicy, use these accordingly in your cooking and your taste. After all cooking is not a rocket science and I believe anyone can cook, just that you should enter the kitchen:).
